Amery Resident to Receive Honorary Degree at Concordia University, St. Paul Commencement Ceremony
ST. PAUL, MN (05/11/2009)(readMedia)-- Concordia University, St. Paul will award an honorary Doctor of Law degree to Richard (Dick) D. Peters of Amery Wis., during the University's commencement ceremony held May 16, 2009 at 2 p.m., in the Gangelhoff Center. The Doctor of Law is given to individual for prolonged superior service in a chosen field or vocation.
After three years of service in the military, Peters began his career at 3M. He spent the majority of his 34 years there in the controllers division where he eventually regulated half of the company's sales which totaled $6 billion. Richard (Dick) D. Peters had a long successful career in finance at 3M while actively serving the church. He had held a variety of elected and appointed positions in the Concordia University System (CUS) and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) and is committed to the fiscal viability of the LCMS and its entities.
Peters served on the LCMS Minnesota South District Board of Directors and chaired its Stewardship Committee. He also served as a member of the LCMS Foundation Board and its Board of Directors. Peters has also served Concordia University, St. Paul as a member of the Board of Regents Finance Committee and the chairman of the Finance/Audit Committee. Peters is now retired from 3M and remains active in the LCMS in various capacities. He serves on the LCMS Foundation Board of Trustees. He remains loyal to and active in his home congregation where he enjoys singing in the choir and serving on numerous committees and boards.
