Concordia University, St. Paul Presents Alumni Award to Cambridge Resident Gretchen Beecroft

ST. PAUL, MN (09/18/2013)(readMedia)-- Cambridge resident Gretchen Beecroft is one of five honorees to be presented the Alumni Distinguished Service Award from Concordia University, St. Paul. The award is given to alumni for their exceptional achievement in their profession, the community and the church. A celebration to honor the alumni will be held during Concordia's 2013 Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 4.

Beecroft, who graduated from Concordia in 1967, has dedicated her life to Lutheran churches and schools. She began her career as a Lutheran school teacher and then served the rest of her career at Concordia. Nineteen of her early forty years at Concordia were spent as the president's assistant. She was known by many to be efficient, trustworthy, graceful, positive, dependable, respectful, humble, welcoming, inclusive, open-minded and a skillful communicator. She embraced much change during her tenure as evidenced by being Concordia's first word processor operator, development secretary, publications keyliner and alumni newsletter author, among her many other roles. Now retired, Beecroft continues to volunteer with her church (Joy Lutheran Church) and local high school.

Other Concordia alumni being honored are Rev. Dr. Eugene Bunkowske, Sally Cordes, Dr. Rebecca Thomley and Rev. James Vehling.
