ST. PAUL, MN (09/18/2013)(readMedia)-- Dayton resident Dr. Rebecca Thomley is one of five honorees to be presented the Alumni Distinguished Service Award from Concordia University, St. Paul. The award is given to alumni for their exceptional achievement in their profession, the community and the church. A celebration to honor the alumni will be held during Concordia's 2013 Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 4.

Thomley, who earned her master's from Concordia in 2002, became the chief executive officer of Orion Associates and its associated companies in 2000. Since then, she has helped the social services organization pursue new and innovative opportunities that have resulted in significant growth in revenue, employees, clients, and services for the physically and mentally challenged. Thomley founded the nonprofit, Headwaters Relief Organization, and has led substantial efforts for Orion's employees to serve the greater community in the wake of local, national and international disasters.

Other Concordia alumni being honored are Gretchen Beecroft, Rev. Dr. Eugene Bunkowske, Sally Cordes and Rev. James Vehling.
