Angela's Bridal Make Downtown Their New Home

ALBANY, NY (07/10/2013)(readMedia)-- The City of Albany and the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) invites the media and public to the official ribbon cutting for Angela's Bridal at their new downtown Albany, NY location at 126 State Street on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Albany Mayor Gerald D. Jennings, Georgette Steffens, Executive Director, BID and Janet Cooper, Angela's Bridal owner are schedule to speak.

"We are thrilled to have Angela's Bridal in one of our beautiful historic buildings," said Mayor Jennings, "They join a number of new retailers that have recently chosen Downtown as their new location and we are excited to see them succeed here."

A regular participant in TLC's "I Found The Gown" reality television series, Angela's Bridal draws clients from throughout the northeast and beyond. Purchasing the bridal business in 2008, Cooper has seen tremendous growth and the need for a larger space.

"We hit a ceiling with the number of bridal parties with which we could provide the exclusive Angela's service," explained Cooper, "The new space fits our core vision, our reason for being. The floor to ceiling marble, the columns – we are going to be the bridal equivalent of Saks 5th Avenue in upstate New York."

"We are becoming the destination for weddings in the Capital Region with our unique historic buildings for venues, world class dining establishments, and hotel offerings," stated Georgette Steffens, Executive Director of the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District, "Angela's Bridal is a great addition and only adds to the draw to Downtown."

126 State was originally designed by noted architect Marcus Reynolds. Built in 1915, the Beaux-Arts style building has three-story Ionic columns, Italian marble floors throughout the first floor, marble columns, and 20-foot-high ceilings with intricate crown molding. Prior to Angela's Bridal the previous tenant was HSBC Bank. The building is owned by Mark Pastreich.
