Emma Willard School is pleased to announce that Aaryn Vaughan, a freshman, will represent the school at the National Shakespeare Competition sponsored by the English-Speaking Union of the United States. Aaryn is the daughter of Mark Vaughan and Christine Costello of Shaftsbury, VT.

The National Shakespeare Competition, begun in 1983, provides students and teachers from 60 ESU branches the opportunity to participate in a curriculum-based program designed to help high school students develop their communications skills and appreciation of language and literature through the study, interpretation, and performance of Shakespeare's monologues and sonnets. Students participate in three qualifying stages at the school, branch, and national levels. The national competition winner is awarded a full tuition scholarship to the British American Drama Academy's Midsummer Conservatory Program in Oxford, England. Aaryn won the Albany, NY, branch competition in February and will compete again at Lincoln Center, April 25–28, for the national title.

Since 1814, Emma Willard School has been one of the nation's leading college preparatory boarding and day schools for young women. For more information visit www.emmawillard.org or contact Sandra Seplowe at sseplowe@emmawillard.org, (518) 833-1785.
