Trudy Hall and Emma Sophomore Sierra Carlen Honored by YWCA as "Resourceful Women"

TROY, NY (10/31/2011)(readMedia)-- Head of School Trudy Hall and Emma Willard School student, Sierra Carlen '14 (Troy, NY), are being recognized at the "Resourceful Women's Luncheon" to benefit the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc. The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

"We are honoring everyday heroes, not just well-known women in highly visible positions," said Sherry Rounds, executive director of the YWCA-GCR. "These are all accomplished, energetic and committed women who represent the spirit of determination we hold dear at the YWCA."

Hall, head of Emma Willard School for 12 years, is being honored for her leadership in advancing girls education. Also being recognized in the education category is Katie Abrahamson Henderson "Coach Abe" from the University of Albany and Linda Martin from PS 2.

Carlen, a sophomore from Troy, who volunteers regularly at the YWCA, is being honored in the Youth category: Women under 18 who are positive role models for other young women. Carlen donated her Bat Mitzvah money to the YWCA, and encouraged her fellow Emma classmates to donate their time and money as well.
