Armstrong High School Concert Choir Selected for Seventh Annual Choral Arts Finale

ST. PAUL, MN (03/09/2012)(readMedia)-- The Armstrong High School Concert Choir is one of five high school choirs selected to participate in the seventh annual Choral Arts Finale April 15 at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis. Sponsored by Concordia University, St. Paul and the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota (ACDA) with support of David and Sandy Frauenshuh, the event is designed to showcase Minnesota's top high school choirs.

The five selected choirs will participate in a full-day choral clinic on the campus of Concordia University, culminating in a performance at 7:30 p.m. with both solo and massed performances at Orchestra Hall. Dr. André Thomas of Florida State University, a distinguished composer of spirituals and gospels, will be the guest clinician. Concordia's Christus Chorus will join the five Minnesota choirs to perform a gospel piece arranged by Dr. Thomas.

Joining Armstrong High School are concert choirs from Buffalo High School, Eagan High School, Princeton High School and the Bella Voce Young Women's Choir from Rochester. Members of the ACDA selected the participating choirs through a blind audition process. Each group receives a commemorative plaque, $500 award and transportation expenses. More than 2,000 singers have enjoyed the honor of participating in the Choral Arts Finale since its inception in 2006.

Tickets for the event are $13 and can be purchased at the Orchestra Hall Box Office at 612-371-5656.
