CHICOPEE, MA (11/24/2009)(readMedia)-- Elms College sophomore swimmer Ashely Arbo of Kensington, Connecticut was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimmer of the Week as recently announced by the organization.
Arbo broke a pair of school records and was part of a school-record breaking relay team, helping the women's swimming team to a 1-1 week. The Blazers fell to Smith 162-124 before taking a 130-113 decision over Colby-Sawyer.
Against Smith, Arbo clocked a sizzling time of 26.94 in the 50-yard freestyle to win the event and set a new Elms school mark. Arbo also set a school record in the 200-yard freestyle, registering a time of 2:09.32 en route to a second place finish. Against Colby-Sawyer Arbo won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.57 and was also part of the school record breaking 200-yard freestyle relay team that earned a time of 1:47.81.
