Audubon Elementary School Principal wins statewide honor

DES MOINES, IA (08/02/2018) (readMedia)-- Ed Glaser, Principal of Audubon Elementary School in Dubuque is a 2018 recipient of the Iowa State Education Association's TEAM Award
Established in 1990, the ISEA's TEAM award stands for Together, Educators and Administrators Make it Happen. The award honors a school administrator who has worked to create a collaborative, collegial working environment for all staff in a school building or district. Any school administrator, current or retired, is eligible for the award.
Glaser was nominated for the award by three educators at Audubon who worked with him first when he was a teacher and now as the Principal. Glaser was nominated with words of praise and enthusiasm for his leadership, work ethic and particular detail to a respectful environment for all. All say his main concern is for the health and welfare of the students in his care which creates a school setting everyone supports.
"It is clear that Ed is well loved and respected at Audubon. He has built a strong sense of community among the students, staff and with parents," said ISEA President Mike Beranek. "He has worked hard to improve student achievement and has created a proud school environment where kids want to learn and grow. He has clearly made a difference in the lives of the students and is deeply respected among the staff. We applaud and celebrate Ed's leadership and look forward to many years of working with him," Beranek added
Glaser was presented with his award at the ISEA's Celebration of Excellence Awards banquet on Monday, July 30 in West Des Moines. More than 300 educators from across the state came together to attend the banquet and Summer Leadership Conference which began on Monday.
