Aurora Cauthers-Knox Awarded at Beloit College Honors Day

BELOIT, WI (05/02/2012)(readMedia)-- Aurora Cauthers-Knox '12 of Bainbridge Island, Wash., recently received the James E. Lockwood Prize in Anthropology at the College's Honors Day Convocation on May 2. The Honors Day Convocation is an annual event held to honor outstanding Beloit College students and their accomplishments.

The James E. Lockwood Anthropology Prize is annually awarded to an outstanding student in anthropology. It was established in 1985 by James E. Lockwood '34. Lockwood majored in geology and minored in anthropology and experienced many adventures in archeology and deep-sea diving. He was president and owner of Lockwood Oil Co. in Rockford, Ill., until his retirement in 1952. He also supports scholarships in geology and anthropology and has contributed many personal artifacts to the Logan Museum of Anthropology on the Beloit College campus.

Beloit College is a residential, liberal arts college offering 40 majors to its 1,250 students. Located 90 miles northwest of Chicago, Beloit is one of the nation's most international colleges, drawing students from 41 nations as well as 49 states.
