BALCONY Hails Supreme Court Decision in Support of Affordable Health Care Act

Statement by Catherine M. Abate, BALCONY Co-Chair: President and CEO of Community Healthcare Network

NEW YORK, NY (06/28/2012)(readMedia)-- "This is a great day for all New Yorkers -- and the rest of the country as well. The Supreme Court's decision to uphold President Obama's Patient Protection Affordable Care Act, and the health insurance exchanges that go along with it, will provide New Yorkers with the best possible health insurance for the lowest possible cost.

"This ruling also ensures that millions of young adults under age 26 can remain on their parents' insurance policies, closes the prescription drug "donut hole" for seniors on Medicare, provides small business tax credits and prevents insurance companies from denying individuals coverage based on pre-existing conditions.

"We at the Business and Labor Coalition of New York , BALCONY www.balconynewyork.com are thrilled with this decision. We will move forward with our plan to conduct 22 educational workshops on the benefits of the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act for small businesses and labor, in conjunction with the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce and the New York City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce."
