BREAKING: BOE ED Mike Ryan Must Resign or Be Replaced Immediately

NEW YORK, NY (12/04/2018) (readMedia)-- In response to news that NYC Board of Elections Executive Director, Mike Ryan, has been receiving paid trips from the company that makes the city's voting machines, Common Cause/NY Executive Director, Susan Lerner, issued the following statement:

"It is an outrageous conflict of interest for the Executive Director of the Board of Elections to sit on an advisory board for the company that makes the city's voting machines and accept all expenses paid trips from them. Clearly Mike Ryan is aware of this since he failed to get an oversight opinion from the COIB or to file accurate disclosure forms, effectively covering-up his actions. New York City elections have been a buffet of technical incompetence that Ryan has gone out of his way to excuse. Now we know it's because he's more invested in lining his own pockets than serving the public. He must resign or be replaced immediately, and the city should open an investigation into possible violations of the law. It's time to let New York vote and that means overhauling our elections so we have professional administrators, not corrupt party hacks."
