ALBANY, NY (10/06/2011)(readMedia)-- Behan Communications, Inc., the public relations, public affairs and marketing communications firm, has won a Mark of Excellence Award from the American Marketing Association's Capital Region Chapter for a marketing campaign that raised $1.1 million for Glens Falls Hospital.

The "Raise the Roof" campaign, in support of the Hospital's 2010 Annual Fund, was honored as marketing campaign of the year among Capital Region businesses and institutions with larger marketing budgets.

"Raise the Roof" helped Glens Falls Hospital attract $1.1 million in donations and 400 new donors in a period of economic distress and reduced charitable giving.

The Behan team developed a strategy for a yearlong, community-wide celebration, the centerpiece of which was an original "Raise the Roof" music video featuring singer/songwriter Rich Ortiz and showcasing dozens of local people, including Glens Falls Mayor Jack Diamond, performing the "Raise the Roof" dance.

The campaign also utilized social media, special events, direct mail appeals, and advertising. Life-sized silhouettes of people doing the "Raise the Roof" dance popped up around the community and the hospital.

The Behan project team consisted of Vice Presidents John Brodt, Troy Burns and Mik Bondy, Project Representative & Media Buyer Marilyn Reisch, Design Coordinator Dannica Campbell and Media Monitoring Manager Rick Judge. The Glens Falls Hospital team included hospital President Dave Kruczlnicki, former Vice President of Philanthropy Ray Agnew and Annual Fund Manager Claudia Higgins.
