SAVANNAH, GA (07/10/2012)(readMedia)-- 21-year-old Blake Shutterly, a 2009 graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School and currently a performing arts student at the Savannah College of Art and Design, has been cast in the new film, "CBGB," currently filming in Savannah, GA.

"CBGB" chronicles the famous Bowery music venue from its origins as Country, Bluegrass and Blues (CBGB) to what it ultimately became: the birthplace of underground rock 'n roll and punk and home to performers like Patti Smith, Blondie, The Ramones, The Talking Heads and Television.

Blake plays a female reporter in the film. "It's a really great part," said Blake. "I'm interviewing the main band in the movie about being punk. It's a comedic role, which I'm most excited about."

Blake joins a cast that includes Alan Rickman ("Harry Potter," "Sweeney Todd"), Rupert Grint ("Harry Potter"), Joel David Moore ("Avatar"), Ashley Greene ("Twilight") and Johnny Galecki ("The Big Bang Theory").

Blake was bitten by the acting bug in high school. "I acted for the first time my senior year of high school in the play '12 Angry Jurors' and was in 'Once on This Island,'" said Blake. "This is my first time with a speaking role on a professional film. I've acted in a number of student films and I've been on real sets before, but never like this!"

"CBGB" is scheduled for release in 2013.
