SAVANNAH, GA (01/16/2014)(readMedia)-- Fashion marketing and management student and Winter Park native Hannah Aylward was one of nine Savannah College of Art and Design students selected as an YMA Fashion Scholar for 2014.
Aylward was searching for a school that offered her a place to study a business/marketing major surrounded by creative people. SCAD's fashion marketing and management program fit her interests perfectly and gave her plenty of opportunities for preparing for a career.
"Hopefully winning this competition will help me make lasting connections with people in the industry," said Aylward. "I would have never been able to accomplish this if it weren't for the help and support of my professors at SCAD, my friends, and my family."
The rigorous application process for the scholarship begins in the fall and ends in December, when approximately 100 students are selected by some of the top names in fashion to receive a $5,000 scholarship and fashion mentorship. In years past, each YMA scholar has also been placed in internships with such renowned organizations as Neiman Marcus, Kenneth Cole, Polo Ralph Lauren and Saks Fifth Avenue.
All nine SCAD students were honored Jan. 8, at the YMA Scholarship Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. This is the seventh consecutive year that SCAD students have been named YMA scholars.
