WALLA WALLA, WA (03/07/2012)(readMedia)-- Patricia Vanderbilt of Bellingham, Wash. was one of thirteen students who recently traveled to Seattle to represent The Pioneer, Whitman College's student newspaper, at the Associate Collegiate Press conference.
The Pioneer won two awards from ACP: third place for a four-year school weekly print publication and second place for a small school publication website.
The conference has attendees from colleges and universities across the country. Conference-goers take part in workshops on print journalism, web journalism, publishing magazines and radio broadcasting. Participants also receive feedback and awards for their school publications.
Vanderbilt, the daughter of Carletta and Burton Vanderbilt, is a 2008 graduate of Sehome High School. She is currently a senior English major at Whitman and the editor-and-chief of The Pioneer.
