CHICOPEE, MA (05/18/2010)(readMedia)-- Ben Masse of Chicopee, Massachusetts, received the Cartier Family Award, given to a deserving student in the Chicopee/Holyoke area, at Elms College's annual Honors Convocation. The award is given to a deserving student in the Chicopee/Holyoke area. It was established at the time of death of Orphir Cartier, father of three alumnae and a corporator of Elms College.
Masse was awarde his bachelor of arts degree in history at Elms Sunday, May 16. He has already passed his licensure test to become a public school teacher in Massachusetts, which he intends to do while pursing a master's degree in education. A student representative to the Elms College board of trustees during his senior year, he was a three-time captain of the men's soccer team, and will return to Elms to help coach the team in the fall.
