STOCKBRIDGE/LENOX, MA (05/12/2017) (readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School's Upper School Theater Ensemble will be joined by several special guests to present the spring production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Winthrop Theater on Friday, May 19 at 7 pm and Sunday, May 21 at 2 pm.
Rebellious teenagers, mischievous fairies, bad actors, woodland mishaps, and a tangled web of love triangles all collide in this hilarious comedy by William Shakespeare. Refreshed and re-imaged by an intergeneration ensemble of actors, the production features students and special appearances by members of Berkshire Country Day School's faculty and staff. This production also features original sound design by students in faculty member Charles Martin's composition workshops.
Each year, the Upper School Theater Ensemble comprised of students in grades 7-9 present productions that have included a range of original and devised performances, interdisciplinary collaborations, and significant classical and contemporary works.
"This collaboration is one that truly highlights the talents, energy, and enthusiasm of our unique community", said Theater Program Director Sara Katzoff. "Students, staff, and faculty are working together to bring this play and Shakespeare's language to life. It has been an extraordinary process."
Both performances take place at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute's Winthrop Theater at 45 West Street in Lenox. There is a suggested donation at the door.
