STOCKBRIDGE/LENOX, MA (04/20/2017) (readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School, an independent school for students in preschool through ninth grade, is pleased to announce that 19 Upper School (grades 7-9) students were awarded certificates and medals for their high scores on the 2017 National Latin Exam. The NLE exam is sponsored both by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. More than 149,000 students from all 50 states and 16 foreign countries took the test.
For the Latin I National Exam, the following awards were earned by seventh grade students: Gold Summa Cum Laude: Clara Mollerus, Otis. Silver Maxima Cum Laude: Sammy Rusk, Housatonic, and Henry Van Schaick, Pittsfield. Magna Cum Laude: Abbey Boyd, West Stockbridge; Esme Lazar, Great Barrington; Keely O'Gorman, Lee; Sean Sylbert, Monterey; and Chase Vermeulen, North Egremont. Cum Laude: Donald Miller, Pittsfield.
For the Latin II National Exam, the following awards were earned by eighth graders: Silver Maxima Cum Laude: Roberto Barron, Lee, and Beck Mathews, Lenox; Magna Cum Laude: Harrison Seeley, Richmond; and Cum Laude: Cass Combs, New Marlborough; Colby Lederman, Miriam Miller, and Gabe Rich, Pittsfield; and Julia Mammen, Housatonic.
For the Latin III National Exam, the following awards were earned by ninth graders: Magna Cum Laude: Fiona Ferrone, Spencertown, NY; and Lanna Knoll, Great Barrington.
