DES MOINES, IA (08/27/2024) (readMedia)-- Youth ages 5 to 16 and adults showed off their best hog call to impress the judges on Friday, August 16, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.
Emberlyn Evison of Carlisle and Dutch Roatz of Des Moines both snatched first place in the Youth Hog Calling competition.
Kyle Veneer of West Des Moines took first place in the Adult Hog Calling competition.
The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
