Bodine Road in Charlestown Township Reopens to Traffic Today

New bridge over Turnpike in Chester County closed to traffic since March

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (11/24/2010)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that the bridge carrying Bodine Road over the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) in Charlestown Township, Chester County will reopen to traffic before 5 p.m. today (Nov. 24), just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The bridge, located 9.5 miles west of the Valley Forge Interchange (Exit #326) and 2.6 miles east of the Downingtown Interchange (Exit #312) was closed to traffic earlier this year.

During the eight month, $4.8 million project to replace the 60+ year old bridge, Bodine Road was closed and a 3.5-mile detour implemented from Valley Hill Road on the south side and Seven Oaks Road on the north side of the bridge.

The new bridge that crosses the Turnpike at milepost 315.8 in Charlestown Township features a stone architectural treatment and anti-graffiti coatings. New safety features include two 10-foot travel lanes, six foot shoulders and guiderail.

Please visit the Pennsylvania Turnpike website at www.paturnpike.com for all Turnpike project-related announcements and updates. The Pennsylvania Turnpike urges the motoring public to stay alert and travel at posted speed limits through highway work zone areas.
