ALBANY, NY (09/09/2009)(readMedia)-- Dennis R. Bozzi has been named the new president and chief executive officer of the New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging.

Bozzi, who has been president of Life Services Network of Illinois for 22 years, was chosen from an impressive field from across the country, said Tom Holt, chairman of NYAHSA's Board of Directors. Bozzi replaces Carl Young, who is retiring after 20 years as NYAHSA president.

Bozzi's entire career is deeply rooted in aging services. After a bachelor's degree from Westfield (Mass.) State University and a master's degree in public policy at the University of Chicago, Bozzi served an internship with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration on Aging, then became director of grants management for the Chicago Department on Aging.

In 1981, he became executive director of the Metropolitan Chicago Coalition on Aging, and six years later, he took the helm at Life Services Network of Illinois, then known as the Illinois Association of Homes for the Aging. Under his 22-year leadership, the organization grew from a 180-member organization with a $300,000 annual budget to a membership of 550 and an annual budget of $4.5 million.

NYAHSA, is a not-for-profit 501(c)(4) organization that represents its membership of not-for-profit and government-operated aging and continuing care services organizations in New York state. NYAHSA's mission-driven members cover the spectrum of aging care and services, including senior housing and retirement living communities, skilled nursing facilities, adult care facilities and home- and community-based services.
