Britt local receives ISEA Scholarship for Future Teachers

DES MOINES, IA (04/23/2015)(readMedia)-- Iowa State Education Association President Tammy Wawro presented an ISEA Scholarship for Future Teachers on March 19, to Brookelyn Savoy of Britt at West Hancock Elementary School where her mother, Roxanne Savoy, is a first grade teacher.

Brookelyn is currently a junior at Iowa State University majoring in Elementary Education and English Language Arts. She is also a member of the ISEA/ISU Student Program where she serves as the Social Media Chair.

"I am delighted to present the ISEA Scholarship for Future Teachers to Brookelyn," said Tammy Wawro, President of the ISEA. "She will soon be entering one of the most rewarding professions in the world where she will truly help change young people's lives for the better. I am so proud of Brookelyn and the other young adults entering our profession for their commitment and passion for public education," added Wawro.

The ISEA offers scholarships to help sons or daughters of association members become teachers. Applicants must be a member of the ISEA/NEA Student Program and have completed 60 semester hours (or equivalent) or they must be considered a junior at the college or university in which they are enrolled.
