Business Council Endorses George Maziarz in the 62nd State Senate District
ALBANY, NY (10/25/2012)(readMedia)-- The Business Council of New York State, Inc. is endorsing George Maziarz in the 62nd State Senate District.
"George Maziarz is a strong supporter of pro-growth initiatives that will create jobs in New York. He understands that to grow our economy we need to lower taxes and lower the cost of doing business. As a member of the Senate, Maziarz has been a champion of pro-growth policies and will continue to focus on those policies when he is reelected Senator," said Heather Briccetti, president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State, Inc.

"I was proud to support two on-time budgets that reduced year to year spending without increasing taxes or fees as well as the enactment of the property tax cap. "As Chairman of the Energy and Telecommunications Committee I prioritized economic development by sponsoring Recharge New York and the renewal of the Article X power plant siting law. These efforts show that I stand with the Business Council in their efforts to create jobs and grow our economy, and I am very grateful that they are also standing with me by supporting my reelection."
In the Senate, George supported much of the Business Council's economic reform agenda which includes the enactment of a property tax cap; mandate relief and tax reform; public employee pension reforms and limiting government borrowing.
Maziarz successfully fought enact the 2 percent property tax cap and as Chairman of the Senate Energy Committee he championed the creation of the ReCharge New York and Power New York programs in the Senate to enhance business access to hydropower and site new power generation facilities. He also was the force behind passing the Commercial Solar Tax Exemption bill. This legislation exempts the sale and installation of commercial solar energy systems equipment from sales and compensating use taxes and grants municipalities the option to grant such exemption from local sales and use taxes.
Maziarz scored 90 percent on the Business Council's 2012 Voters' Guide for his votes in the Senate.
The 2012 Voters Guide measures New York State legislators' commitment to promoting fiscal reform and improving the state's economic climate by scoring their votes on key legislation during the 2012 session.
This endorsement comes through the Business Council's Political Action Committee.
