Summary: Concordia University, St. Paul presents William Shakespeare's "The Tempest."  Prospero, the once powerful Duchess of Milan, has been banished to an enchanted island, but after years of study in the magical arts, she is able to conjure a shipwreck on the shores of the island, bringing her enemies all at once within her vengeful grasp. With the aid of magical creatures, she wreaks havoc on usurping lords and drunken servants alike. But the love of her daughter with the shipwrecked Prince proves to be an even stronger force than her sorcery, prompting her to consider forgiveness above revenge, even at the expense of her own powerful magic. Classified as one of the "romances" in the Shakespearean canon, The Tempest is filled with soaring poetry, haunting melodies, as well as outrageous physical humor. One of the last of Shakespeare's plays, it is often seen as his "swan song" to his life and work.
