The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced on Monday that Carthage College sophomore running back Jamel Davis has been named the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week following his career day at Augustana. The honor is the first of Davis's career and Jamel becomes the first Offensive Player of the Week since Jamahl Wright received the award on Sept. 29, 2014.
Davis, a sophomore running back from Naples, Florida, rushed for a career-high 177 yards on 20 carries in helping lead the Red Men to a 55-14 win at Augustana on Saturday. He also tied a career high with three rushing touchdowns and he was never tackled for a loss of yardage. As a team, Carthage rushed for a season-high 294 yards.
