Summary: Concordia University, St. Paul's Theatre department presents Carnival, April 29-May 1, at 7:30 p.m., and May 2, at 2 p.m., in the E.M. Pearson Theatre at Concordia University. Based on the 1953 MGM film, "Lili", starring Leslie Caron, this musical tells the story of a young girl who leaves her French village to join a small, travelling circus which has fallen on hard times. She meets a puppeteer trying to overcome a tragic past, as well as a womanizing magician and his long-suffering girlfriend and assistant. Capturing the music, color and spectacle of the circus, Carnival is a story about sweetness and innocence which ultimately overcome the darker edges of romance.
