Campbellsville University has 16 new students complete the ESL program

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (12/19/2018) (readMedia)-- "We'll always be family," said Dr. H. Keith Spears, vice president for communications and assistant to the president, at Campbellsville University's English as a Second Language (ESL) pinning ceremony, "That's what language does for us, it makes us brothers and sisters and cousins."

Students who received their ESL completion certificates were: Abrar Aldawood of Saudi Arabia; Alex Aramayo of Bolivia; Bayartsestseg Battumur of Mongolia; Tuul Bayambaa of Mongolia; Yensel Carcamo of Honduras; Zexuan Fan of China;

Wenhui Li of China; Ximeng Li of China; Israfil Madzhunov of Russia; Otgontuya Munkhbaatar of Mongolia; Jaqueline Torres Aguirre of Costa Rica;

Israel Tshijik of Congo; Shurentsetseg Tumurbaatar of Mongolia; Yiheng Wu of China; Zhuojie Yang of China; and Hui Zhang of China.

Students from both the main campus and Louisville Education Center were among those who received their ESL certification.

Zhoujie "George" Yang, a main campus student, and Abrar Aldawood, a Louisville center student, received the Outstanding ESL Student Award.

Joshua Detherage, ESL and MA TESOL instructor, said about the ESL program, "This is no small task. It is a challenge to not only learn a second language, but to do so while living in a second culture and being immersed in that second language."
