The New York State Canal Corporation today announced the temporary weekday closure of a one-mile section of Canalway Trail near Trimmer Road in the Town of Ogden in Monroe County.
The trail will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday beginning Wednesday, December 8, 2010, from a point 3,500 feet east of Trimmer Road to 2,000 feet west of Trimmer Road. No work is scheduled for weekends or evenings. The project is expected to be completed in about two months.
The temporary closure is necessary to allow Canal Corporation crews to repair the canal embankment. Selected trees and brush will be removed from the outboard slope.
Detour signs will be placed to direct the public to Canal Road. The trail will be open during non-working hours, including weekday evenings and weekends.
The Canal Corporation appreciates the public's patience while the repairs are being made.
