GEORGETOWN, TX (03/30/2011)(readMedia)-- Carissa Winland of Pflugerville, TX received the 2011 Outstanding Achievement in Psychology Award from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
The Outstanding Achievement in Psychology award is given to students who have shown outstanding performance in the following three areas - 1. In the classroom, as measured by GPA and the difficulty of the courses taken, 2. - Performance in research or in an internship, as measured by outcomes, presentations, publications, pre-publications, manuscripts in preparation, and on the internship side, journal, presentation, performance during the internship, and information from the on-site director, and 3. - Service within the Psychology Department at Southwestern, as measured by performance in Psi Chi or the Psychology Club, secretary positions, mentor for younger students, willing to go out of the way to help someone in their lab, or classroom, etc.).
Winland received the award at the University's Honors Convocation March 5.
