Carl F. Ruoff and Nathan B. Davis Joins Firm

ALBANY, NY (07/14/2008)(readMedia)-- ALBANY, NY (July, 2008)(8:00)(EST) - Hoffman Warnick LLC, an intellectual property law firm based in Albany, NY, is proud to announce the appointment of Carl F. Ruoff as a Senior Associate and Nathan B. Davis as Patent Technical Specialist.

Carl F. Ruoff:

Mr. Ruoff is an experienced patent lawyer skilled in patent prosecution and procurement, product clearance and licensing. He is familiar with numerous technologies with particular emphasis in the chemical, material, imaging, display and printing arts.

Mr. Ruoff received his Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Law Degree from Suffolk University of Law School, J.D.

Prior to joining Hoffman Warnick, Mr. Ruoff served various roles at Eastman Kodak Company including Director of Intellectual Property Transactions where he negotiated and drafted complex patent licenses, development agreements and secrecy agreements. While Senior Patent Counsel at Kodak, Mr. Ruoff was responsible for all patent issue for multiple business units.

Nathan B. Davis:

Mr. Davis services primarily focus on preparing patent specifications and providing technical assistance relative to patent prosecution matters in the fields of chemistry and nanotechnology. He is familiar with numerous technologies with particular emphasis in the chemical and nanomaterials fields including semiconductor nanocrystals and quantum dots and their inclusion into matrix materials such as epoxies, sol-gels, resins and polymers used in spin coating, drop casting, and printing. He also worked extensively in the integration of nanomaterials into such applications as LEDs, photovoltaics (solar cells), electroluminescent devices, and barcodes.

Mr. Davis received his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from Union College. Prior to joining Hoffman Warnick, Mr. Davis served various roles at Evident Technologies. Of these, the most important was managing the Intellectual Property portfolio, including drafting patent applications and responses to office actions, analyzing and assessing internal Invention Disclosures, and completing patent landscapes, while managing outside counsel. He was involved directly with the development of new technologies as well as with the Trademark portfolio and branding of current technologies.
