Carol Troestler of Prairie du Sac honored by Ripon College

RIPON, WI (07/14/2010)(readMedia)-- Carol Grant Troestler of Prairie du Sac, Wis. was honored with Ripon College's Distinguished Alumni Citation during its annual Alumni Association dinner June 25.

Troestler (class of 1960) majored in psychology and biology while attending Ripon College. While on campus, she was in the psychology and religion club as well as a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She was also named the White Rose Queen of Sigma Nu.

After graduating from Ripon, Carol went on to earn a Master of Degree in 1980 from the School of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She worked as the Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Program Coordinator at Sauk Prairie School District. In 1985, she became the co-owner of Pathway Center, a mental health clinic in Prairie du Sac. Carol has had two historical novels published in 2005 and 2006, Flow On Sweet Missouri and Iowa Born and Bred. She is currently working on a book about the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Carol grew up in Park Ridge, Ill. and now lives in Prairie du Sac, Wis. with her husband, Tom Troestler '59. Carol and Tom have been married for 50 years and have six children: Donald, Donna, Stephen, Michael, Maria,and Peggy. She and Tom enjoy traveling the world and spending time with their eleven grandchildren.

The purpose of the Distinguished Alumni Citation is to recognize alumni who have distinguished themselves by representing what the college seeks to achieve in the education it affords. Candidates are selected on any one of the following:

1. For achieving distinction in his/her chosen field.
2. For rendering outstanding service to his/her country, state or community.
3. For rendering outstanding service to, and demonstrating a loyal and active interest in Ripon College.

Nominations may be made by members of the faculty, administration, individual alumni and groups or alumni clubs through the Office of Annual Fund, Alumni Relations & Parent Programs for presentation to the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
