ALBANY, NY (08/25/2008)(readMedia)-- Alan Chartock, President and CEO of WAMC Northeast Public Radio, is in Denver, Colorado this week, covering the Democratic National Convention for radio, television & web. As Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Communication for the University at Albany and SUNY College at New Paltz, a long-time political consultant for WNYT/News Channel 13, and publisher of The Legislative Gazette newspaper, Chartock is well positioned to bring the news breaking at the convention back to the home-front. Alan will join WNYT's Jim Kambrich and Lydia Kulbida each night at 11PM to wrap up the day's events and provide on-the-spot coverage of the week's activities.
Steve Baboulis, General Manager of WNYT noted, "We at News Channel 13 are pleased that our good friend and colleague, Alan Chartock, will be reporting for us from the convention in Denver. He has great contacts among some of the key players, plus he has a deep understanding of the political process occurring at the convention. All of his knowledge will allow us to provide our viewers with unique insight."
Radio listeners in eastern New York and western New England can tune in to one of the WAMC/Northeast Public Radio frequencies each morning at 7:32 AM, when Morning Edition host, David Guistina, de-briefs Chartock. Other updates will take place during The Roundtable with Joe Donahue and throughout the day.
"I have been to many conventions and this one is the most exciting yet," said Chartock. "I love the idea of talking to congressmen, governors and all the regular folks, but I particularly love the idea of being with my two old compadres, Jim Kambrich and Lydia Kulbida, as well as the other friends I have made in the industry over the years, both new and old."
Alan has also been invited to join news anchor Brian Taffe, of Time Warner News Channel Nine's Capital Tonight during Brian's nightly two hour coverage of the convention.
WAMC Northeast Public Radio will also be providing full daily reports by its NY Capital correspondent, Karen DeWitt. You can visit WAMC's website for details at: http://www.wamc.org/ and in the coming weeks you will also hear from Karen live from the Republican convention as she provides commentary and interviews, along with Alan, who will be here in the state's Capitol.
