SPRINGFIELD, IL (11/02/2013)(readMedia)-- Henry Dixon of Chicago, with Joint Force Headquarters in Springfield, was promoted to the rank of colonel by Brig. Gen. Daniel M. Krumrei, the Illinois National Guard Adjutant General, at Camp Lincoln in Springfield, Nov. 2.

Dixon enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard July 15, 1987 and commissioned from the University of Illinois Reserve Officer Training Corps May 24, 1989.

Dixon deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as the executive officer for the 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment from 2005 to 2006. He also deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as chief of staff of the Afghanistan Regional Security Integration Command-West from 2008 to 2009.

He is assigned as the director of J5 Strategic Plans and Policy for Joint Force Headquarters in Springfield. As a civilian, Dixon is a director at Imperatis Corporation in Arlington, Va.
