SIMSBURY, CONN. (07/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Chrysler's 300 luxury sedan may not have all the crime-fighting specs of the Batmobile, but the automaker wants to remind fans that the car still has the bold looks to stand out even in Gotham City's dramatic landscape. Partnering with the upcoming "The Dark Knight Rises" film, Chrysler recently invited fans to create their own Imported from Gotham City commercial using movie footage and clips of the 2012 Chrysler 300, with the winning spot airing on national television.
Earlier this week, the public voted to select the top three fan-created Imported from Gotham City commercials at www.importedfromgothamcity.com, and Christopher Nolan, the director of the 'Dark Knight' trilogy, is expected to personally choose a winner by July 10. The winning fan will then be flown to Hollywood to complete his or her spot alongside a professional editor before attending the red-carpet premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises" in New York City on July 16. Debuting during "Access Hollywood," the finished commercial will air on July 19, the day before the film opens nationwide.
"There aren't too many street-legal vehicles that could fit in along the striking architecture of Gotham City, but the Chrysler 300 is certainly one of them," said Stewart Gilling, general sales manager of Simsbury, Connecticut Chrysler dealer Mitchell Chrysler Dodge Ram. "The Imported from Gotham City contest is a great way of engaging fans' creativity, and the Chrysler 300 has the aggressive styling to support their ambitious visions."
With its appeal extending well beyond Gotham City, the 2012 Chrysler 300 was recently named Top Rated Large Car in the Autobytel and AutoPacific 2012 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards. Determined by surveys of more than 75,000 owners of 2012-model-year vehicles, winners of the Vehicle Satisfaction Awards were evaluated based on 48 different attributes, ranging from power and acceleration to space and quietness inside the vehicle.
The Chrysler 300 topped other American competitors like the Ford Taurus, Buick LaCrosse and Chevrolet Impala to secure its Vehicle Satisfaction Award in the Large Car category. Autobytel noted the sedan's world-class handling, superior steering feel and powerful engines as reasons for its high satisfaction rating. Also earning praise from editors were the 300's interior amenities, including soft-touch materials, ambient ice-blue lighting and an 8.4-inch touchscreen that controls audio, communication and navigation.
Coming standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 292 horsepower while still returning 31 mpg on the highway, the 2012 Chrysler 300 offers a rare mix of performance and efficiency for a large sedan. For those that want reliable performance in all conditions, V6 models of the Chrysler 300 are also available with all-wheel-drive, returning a best-in-class 27 mpg on the highway. Meanwhile, power junkies can opt for a HEMI V8 that churns out 363 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque.
"The Chrysler 300 allows buyers to enjoy the best parts of a large American sedan on their own terms, whether they want to save on gas or maintain smooth handling in inclement weather," added Gilling. "They get to do all those things with a comfortable, feature-packed interior that would cost thousands of dollars more in a European luxury sedan."
