WALLA WALLA, WA (03/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Daniel Merritt of Claremont recently presented his research at a press conference at Whitman College on Thursday, Feb. 16.
Merritt was one of fifteen students participating in a research course at Whitman College called "The State of the State for Washington Latinos." Students in this course conducted academic and community-based research in one of five different areas related to the relationship between Walla Walla Latinos and their surrounding community.
His project, entitled "Secure Communities Research Project with OneAmerica," looked into the effects Secure Communities had on the relationship between Latinos and local law enforcement.
Merritt, the son of Mark Merritt and Helen Estrada-Merritt, is a 2009 graduate of Claremont High School. He is currently a junior politics major at Whitman.
