Clarkson Senior Receives Society of Women Engineers Scholarship

Sarah Pawlowski '20 a civil and environmental engineering major in the Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering has been awarded the Dragados USA SWE Scholarship from the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). The Williamsville, NY native is the president of the Clarkson section of SWE and a member of several clubs on campus including the Outing Club and Clarkson Hillel.

"I want to be an engineer because I want to use my strengths to make a difference in someone else's life. engineers can help people and make a difference in someone's life by using their creativity and problem-solving skills to develop solutions to problems. I have become very interested in sustainability and I want to learn how to design sustainable infrastructure that will help the planet and make a positive difference in the lives of humans and wildlife. It fascinates me that I could design everything from simple water filtration for small villages to huge skyscrapers in bustling cities," Pawlowski said in her application.

SWE awarded nearly 260 scholarships totaling more than $810,000 to students for the 2019-2020 academic year. The SWE scholarship program looks to help these young individuals accomplish their dreams of becoming engineers.
