NEW STANTON, PA (09/03/2010)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission alerts motorists of the upcoming closure of the eastbound express E-ZPass lane at the Warrendale Toll Plaza at Milepost 31 at 7 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 8 until mid October; weather permitting. In addition, to this closure a thirty-four hour continuous eastbound single lane will be in effect at milepost 31.25 to milepost 32 starting at 7 p.m. Wed., Sept. 8 until 5 a.m. Fri., Sept. 10.
Eastbound backlogs are expected on Thur., Sept. 9 during the afternoon hours due to the eastbound single lane restriction. Motorists entering the Turnpike heading east from I-79 in Butler County should also expect periodic delays throughout the closure of the eastbound express E-ZPass lane; heavy traffic is common during the afternoon hours on Fridays and Sundays.
The express E-ZPass lane will close while crews from Joseph B. Fay will totally reconstruct a portion adjacent to this area and mill and pave the entire eastbound express lanes. In addition, Transcore will be completing modifications to the eastbound EZ Pass equipment during this 6 week period.
Message Boards will alert motorists of the closure, directing E-ZPass customers, to the conventional designated E-ZPass Only lanes to the right of the express lane. Motorist should be aware that the designated E-ZPass lanes have a 5 mph speed limit.
