College of Notre Dame Announces Thomas Maher as Vice President, Finance & Administration

BALTIMORE, MD (02/10/2011)(readMedia)-- College of Notre Dame of Maryland President Mary Pat Seurkamp has announced the appointment of Thomas Maher, of Franklin, Mass., as Vice President for Finance and Administration. As the College's chief financial administrator, Mr. Maher will be responsible for finance and investments, budget and financial reporting, human resources, information technology, facilities, purchasing, public safety and auxiliary services. Mr. Maher joined the College on February 7, 2011.

"Tom brings an impressive depth of experience and knowledge in higher education, banking and finance to our senior executive team at a very exciting time in the College's history," said President Seurkamp. "As we move to university status and continue to strengthen and broaden our academic offerings, Tom's guidance and strategic leadership will be invaluable."

Mr. Maher comes to Notre Dame with a wealth of experience in higher education administration, most recently at Dean College, a liberal arts college in Franklin, Mass. where he served as chief financial officer, vice president and treasurer. He spent the early part of his career in corporate banking and held senior positions as corporate treasurer at Garden Way and Merkert Enterprises.

In addition to his professional duties, Mr. Maher has been a member of the Financial Executives Institute, National Association of College and University Business Officers, New England Research Center for Higher Education and National Association of Corporate Treasurers. He also served on the board of managers of the Franklin YMCA and on the board of trustees of the New York State Special Olympics.

Mr. Maher is a graduate of Hofstra University, with a bachelor's in finance and economics and a master's in business administration.
