BALTIMORE, MD (09/21/2012)(readMedia)-- Notre Dame of Maryland University is announcing the appointment of Rebecca Sawyer, Ed.D., as vice president for student life. As a senior member of the University's leadership team, Dr. Sawyer will enhance and strengthen Notre Dame's departments of student life, including residence life, student activities and orientation, academic and career enrichment and development, service learning, athletics, campus ministry, counseling and disability support services, as well as A Child's Place, Notre Dame's early childhood educational institution..

"I am excited to be joining Notre Dame of Maryland University," said Dr. Sawyer, "And I look forward to encouraging and assisting our students to achieve their fullest potential as powerful and well-rounded leaders in our communities."

Dr. Sawyer brings extensive experience in all aspects of student life, including student services, program development and student advocacy. She comes to Notre Dame from The George Washington University where she served in student affairs for more than 14 years, most recently as senior assistant to the dean of students, where she worked directly with issues of retention and students of concern.

Dr. Sawyer earned her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and her master's from Murray State University before earning a doctorate in human resource management from The George Washington University.
