BALTIMORE, MD (11/19/2012)(readMedia)-- Notre Dame of Maryland University is welcoming Kathryn Doherty, Ed.D. as associate vice president for academic affairs. As a member of Notre Dame's academic leadership team, Dr. Doherty will spearhead the University's institutional assessment, assist with strategic planning, coordinate academic advising and provide support for initiatives and operations that promote academic excellence.

Dr. Doherty joins Notre Dame with more than 20 years of experience in higher education administration and teaching, most recently at Morgan State University where she served as assistant vice president for assessment and operations and as an adjunct professor in the graduate program. Earlier, Dr. Doherty worked at Towson University as assistant vice president for assessment and institutional research and graduate instructor. Dr. Doherty has also served in faculty and administrative positions at Howard Community College, Marymount University, George Washington University and the University of Massachusetts.

A resident of Columbia, Md., Dr. Doherty holds a doctorate in education and master's in business administration from the University of Massachusetts. She earned her bachelor's from Smith College.
