CENTEREACH, LI., NY (07/25/2011)(readMedia)-- Spectators are invited to watch or compete as the New York Arm Wrestling® Association (NYAWA) and Mulcahy's Pub present the 33rd Annual Coors Light Long Island Arm Wrestling Championships at Mulcahy's Pub (1702 Middle Country Rd. Centereach, NY 11720) on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. General Admission is $5.00 and entry fees are $20 for men and $15 for women. There are up to 14 weight classes for men and women with categories for both amateurs and pros. The day's highlight is the crowning of Long Island's Strongest Arms, belonging to the male and female overall winners. There are no residency requirements and the Proud Sponsor is Coors Light.

Awards and Certificates will be given for first, second and third place in each weight class and $100 cash prizes will be handed out to Long Island's strongest overall man in the right and left hand categories and to the day's strongest woman. There is also a $100 bonus cash prize to any man who can win both the right and left overall. All first, second and third place finishers are invited to compete in the Empire State Championship Final in November.

"The Long Island Arm Wrestling Championships is not only one of the best events of the year, with competition coming from the five Boroughs, tri-state area and far beyond, but it also has its own local bragging-rights rivalry between Nassau and Suffolk Counties," said Gene Camp founder and president of the NYAWA. There will also be team competition with some top-name athletes from Long Island including, current World Arm Wrestling Champion Bobby Buttafuoco (Yes, he is Joey's Brother) from Rockville Centre and NYC Firefighter Mike Ayello from Deer Park, who was chosen the 2010 NYC Arm Wrestler of the Year. Also expected to compete is the 2011 NYC Queen of Arms and New York State Champion Joyce Boone from Brooklyn who was profiled in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd and the Wall Street Journal, last month.

The 33rd Coors Light LI Arm Wrestling Championships are part of the multi-event NY Golden Arm Series, which consists of six preliminary championships held in each of the five NYC Boroughs and Long Island and culminates in the 35th Annual Empire State Golden Arm Tournament of Championship, to be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC.

The next NY Golden Arm Series events include the Brooklyn, Kingsboro Championships on August 28th at the Brighton Jubilee Festival and Queensboro Championships at the Queens Farm Museum's Annual Queens County Fair in Floral Park on Sept. 17 for Kids, Teens and Novice and Sept. 18 for Pro and Amateur Adults.
