White Castle 35th NYC Big Apple Grapple Crowns NYC's King and Queen of Arm Wrestling

Men, Women come to Grips on April 28 in Greenwich Village

BAYSIDE, NY (04/20/2012)(readMedia)-- The New York Arm Wrestling Association (NYAWA) announced today that the Village Pourhouse Sports Bar located at 64 Third Avenue at 11th Street NY., NY will host the White Castle 35th Annual NYC Big Apple Grapple International arm wrestling championships on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 1p.m.... Entry fees are $20 for amateurs, $30 for pros and $5 for women, which includes a free sponsor T-shirt. Competition is open to the public, age 21 years and older, and registration begins at 9:30 am to 12:50 pm. The event is divided into right and left hand weight classes for men, two for women, in both amateur and pro categories. There is a $5 admission charge for spectators. The event features 100 of the world's best arm wrestlers, both male and female, as they compete for the chance to be crowned NYC's King and Queen of Arms.

Over $3,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded and first, second and third place finishers receive custom gold, silver and bronze, 4" medallions. The day's overall strongest male and female will be crowned NYC's King and Queen of Arms. Teams will also compete, grouped by borough, state, and country, with a point tally to determine the winning team. Among those expected to take part are the defending champions, both Brooklyn natives. Joyce Boone, from Gowanus, Brooklyn, chosen the 2011 New York State Arm Wrestler of the Year and is the current NYC Queen of Arms. Also expected to compete is the defending NYC King of Arms and NY State champion Giorgi Gelashvili from Sheepshead Bay who is the best-ranked arm wrestler in New York for the past four years. Also invited are the 2011 Empire State Champions who won last November at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC.
