Common Cause/NY Responds to Pay Commission's Non-Action

NEW YORK, NY (11/15/2016)(readMedia)-- Today the NYS Commission on Legislative, Judicial, and Executive Compensation convened and failed to discharge recommendations. There was neither a majority of support or opposition to approve a proposal and so the Commission adjourned without taking any action.

In response, Common Cause/NY Executive Director, Susan Lerner, released the following statement:

"No action is not an acceptable resolution. While we believe that any raise should be accompanied by a limit or ban on outside income, we also believe that the Commission must do its job and make a recommendation, just as the NYC Quadrennial Advisory Commission for the Review of Compensation Levels for Elected Officials did last year. Continued government disfunction is not functioning for New Yorkers."
