Common Cause/NY Statement on Court Ruling to Release "Agents of the City" Emails
NEW YORK, NY (03/23/2017) (readMedia)-- In response to today's court decision regarding emails between Mayor de Blasio's administration and political consultants classified as "Agents of the City", Susan Lerner, Executive Director of Common Cause New York released the following statement:
"The Judge has agreed with Common Cause/NY's interpretation of the law, making plain that the so called 'Agents of the City' are not exempt from FOIL. There can be no shadow government free from public scrutiny. We can now move beyond this debate, make transparent the emails at issue, and let New Yorkers decide for themselves what is relevant to their interests."
