Common Cause/NY Statement on Cuomo's Plan to Circumvent NYC Campaign Finance Law

NEW YORK, NY (02/03/2025) (readMedia)-- Following reporting yesterday that Andrew Cuomo is working with allies to establish a super PAC ahead of his potential bid for Mayor of New York City, Common Cause New York issued the following statement demanding he follow the rule of law:

"Setting up a super PAC to flagrantly circumvent campaign finance laws shows a profound lack of respect for the rule of law, and should be disqualifying for any public official - let alone a potential candidate for Mayor of New York City. The Mayor's job is to uphold our local laws and defend New Yorkers against the daily attacks on our democratic values. If a candidate defies basic campaign finance laws, what other laws will they disregard?"
