Common Cause/NY Statement on the Nomination of Robert Mujica to the MTA Board

NEW YORK, NY (06/19/2019) (readMedia)-- Lawmakers in Albany are currently considering the nomination of Robert Mujica to the MTA board. Mujica serves as Budget Director to Governor Andrew Cuomo. In response, Common Cause/NY Executive Director Susan Lerner issued the following statement:

"As the Governor's budget director, Robert Mujica can't possibly perform the oversight duties required of an MTA board member without running headline into various conflicts of interest. To top it off, as a Columbia county resident he would require a residency waiver. New Yorkers deserve a qualified, independent MTA board that will put the public interest first, not politics"
