NEW YORK, NY (09/29/2022) (readMedia)-- In response to news that the Adams Administration urged several appointees of the NYC redistricting commission to vote down the revised maps, Susan Lerner, executive director of Common Cause/NY, issued the following statement:
"Mayor Adams should not be meddling in New York City's redistricting process, bulldozing his own agenda over months of public hearings and input. He, and his administration, must remove themselves from the process going forward and allow the commission to do its job: draw fair and equitable maps. Redistricting should represent the needs of the population -- not the needs of politicians."
