CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union Earns Award for Community Service
ALEXANDRIA, VA (11/05/2010)(readMedia)-- CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union was awarded second place in its asset size at the state level for the 2010 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Recognition Program. The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Program promotes social responsibility among credit unions and formally recognizes those credit unions social achievements within their communities.
With the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Recognition Program, credit unions are eligible to receive an award for social involvement with almost any kind of activity that helps other people or strengthens the structure of the community. The program recognizes a credit union, or chapter/multiple credit union group, for its social responsibility work and charitable projects that support its community.
CommonWealth One's entry focused on its dedication to community projects and involvement with the City of Alexandria from May 2009 to May 2010. Community projects included the Alexandria City Public Schools, TC Williams High School Branch and the Academy of Finance, Virginia Cooperative Extension, Dollar Wi$e Committee, City of Alexandria JobLink office, City of Alexandria Hispanic Community, Rebuilding together Alexandria, Walk to Fight Breast Cancer, Spring for Alexandria, and CommonWealth One's Community Shred Day.
