Virginia Credit Union League Donates $8,370 to CMN Hospitals

LYNCHBURG, VA (07/24/2012)(readMedia)-- Virginia's member-owned credit unions donated $8,370 to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals). The money was raised through various fundraising events sponsored by the Virginia Credit Union League and the Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals has been the charity partner of the Virginia Credit Union League since 2003, with the League and its affiliated member-owned credit unions having raised more than $1.46 million for the CMN Hospitals serving Virginia.

"Our credit unions have embraced the cause of CMN Hospitals statewide and are proud to aid them in their mission to provide world-class care and treatment for children and to support research that is paving the way for new treatments and even cures for many life-threatening illnesses," said Virginia Credit Union League President Rick Pillow.

Each of Virginia's CMN Hospitals (listed below) will benefit from the $8,370 donation. The donation will be distributed through Miracle Day Inc., the credit union organization that sponsors and coordinates a family of road races, including the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in Washington, D.C. Credit unions use these races as fundraising vehicles in their partnership with CMN Hospitals.

  • Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital (Roanoke)
  • Centra Lynchburg General and Virginia Baptist Hospitals (Lynchburg)
  • Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU
  • University of Virginia Children's Hospital

League and Foundation fundraising events represent only a small portion of the funds raised for CMN Hospitals each year by Virginia's credit unions. Many Virginia-based credit unions hold individual fundraising events and have donated the following amounts to CMN Hospitals during the span of their partnership:
